Hi! Do you care about the environment as much as we do? Then our webshop is the right place for you! Especially for the sustainable florist, and for everyone who cares about the world. We also offer organic flowers that are better for the bees, and the planet!
Organic flowers from organic growers
Let me tell you a bit about the organic flowers we’re mentioning, they are grown by certified organic growers. You can only be an organic grower if you meet the requirements and if you are approved by SKAL. This is an independent inspection company that issues European BIO certificates.
Organic growers grow their flowers sustainably. To make the crop grow well, they do not use artificial fertilizer but only organic fertilizer. Pesticides are not used either. In this way, they not only keep their crops healthy but also ensure a healthy living environment.
Summer flowers from ‘Op Beemster Klei’
Most of the organic flowers you see on our webshop come from an organic farm.
The organic flowers in the Hoek Flowers webshop come from an organic flower farm called ‘Op Beemster Klei’, among others. They mainly focus on the resilience of the plant itself and thus want to show that organic growing offers a healthy perspective and contributes to biodiversity.
Ornamental grasses and special species from Bisselingskaat
At Bisselingskaat they are also growing according to the organic farming regulations, this farm distinguishes itself by growing special varieties and is specialized in growing ornamental grasses like ‘Bio Miscanthus’ and ‘Bio Gillenia trifoliata’.
Organic flowers available from May to November
So, in addition to the wide range of MPS-A and MPS-A+ flowers we have in stock, seasonal organic flowers are also available. There is a wide range of organic summer flowers in the webshop from May to October. Flowers from organic farms are easy to find at the 'Certificate' filter on the left-hand side on desktop and behind the filter icon on mobile.
Tip: Type 'bio' in the search function and an overview of all organic flowers will appear.
Every year from May, the organic flowers from the farm ‘Op Beemster Klei’ and ‘Bisselingskaat’ are back in the webshop! You will find, among others: Bio Allium, Bio Aquillegia, Bio Campanula Glomeratum, Bio Euphorbia, Bio Leucanthemum (Daisy), Bio Gillenia, Bio Sanguisorba, Bio Helenium, Bio Miscanthus, Bio Rudbeckia. And many more flowers of the season.
“Above all, we want healthy and resilient soil, healthy soil life and healthy, strong plants. - Op Beemster Klei“
How to treat organic flowers?
As with almost every flower that arrives in your shop, they need flower food and a good drink! Did you know Chrysal also offers Organic Flower Food?
Cut the stem in a sharp angle at 2 cm.
Use a clean and sharp knife (or our pink Sakagen scissors).
Remove all the leaves at the end of the stem, leaves can ‘leave’ bacteria in the water.
Leave any thorns in place, removing them will damage the stem.
Put clean water in a clean vase.
Add (organic) cut flower food to the water.
Put the flowers in water and refresh the water regularly.
Organic flowers for the sustainable florist
At Hoek we find it very important that we care about the environment and help the planet be a better place. The ‘Bio’ flowers are a perfect way to start this, add them to your cart to try them! Introduce the organic flowers to your customers and comply with the rule of ordering organic products once a month for the sustainable barometer.
We consider corporate social responsibility with respect for people and the environment very important. That is why we do our best to contribute to a better environment and are now SKAL-certified as well.

Sustainable flower delivery – The Secret Garden Flowers
SustainablityIn the middle of April, we launched our new sustainable flower box. These boxes are made of 100% recycled materials, and re-usable up to 200 times! Before, we were sending all our flowers in cardboard boxes. Although we picked up most of the boxes and recycled them, nothing beats this newly invented box. We’ve teamed up with a company called ‘Newwen’, they are focusing on sustainability by making everything recyclable, reusable and they’re moving towards zero waste and 100% sustainability.
Together with one of our florists, Jolanta from ‘The Secret Garden Flowers’, we reviewed the box and spoke about how this box changed things for her. We shared the interview with Newwen and they made an amazing article, one I’d like to share with you.
