The festive season is coming closer, and it’s the perfect time to fill your shops with red flowers! A signature color during Christmas. Whether we talk about a Carnation or Greenery, a lot can fit into the Christmas palette, and in this blog, we’ll look at some of the most loved red flowers that are perfect for the holiday season. Curious, or in need of inspiration? Read on! Like you may have seen, we posted a reel on Instagram with red flowers. You’ve seen Carnations, Amaryllis, and yes, Peonies!
In the video you’ll see specific varieties, but I’ll give you similar flowers too so you can choose!
A pop of color: Gerbera’s
Gerbera’s can be used as a bright pop of color in a bouquet or arrangement. Their color is so bright and outstanding that you can use it as a centerpiece, they are also long-lasting and versatile, which makes them a perfect pick for florists to use. In the reels we used ‘Gerbera @ Pom Big Band’. Hoek’s 3 favorite reds:
- Gerbera Blind date (bright red color)
- Germini Spider Larsson (pointy petals, bright red color)
- Germini @Suri (bright red color, darker heart)
The OG of Christmas flowers: Ilex
Ilex is a favorite among florists during the Christmas season, it is a traditional flower which pairs so good with other seasonal flowers like Amaryllis or green branches, but they’re also beautiful to use combined with white flowers. We have a lot in stock, from dyed to the original red and orange branches. In the reels we showed you the ‘Ilex Dyed Frosted’, but we have picked our 3 faves. Hoek’s 3 favorite reds:
- Ilex Vert Red (the most picked Ilex)
- Ilex Brit Buys Red (bright red color)
- Ilex Dyed Bordeaux (dyed red, but such a pretty dark red)
“Red flowers on my Christmas list“
There are a lot of reasons to pick Carnations during the festive season, whether you pick them for their symbolism, longevity, color variety, festive appearance, or durability, they are all pretty. Carnations are strong flowers that can withstand colder temperatures, which is typical during this season, and they also come in a lot of colors. When we’re talking about red Carnations, they come from bright red until a deep red color – but all so beautiful. In the reels we used ‘Carnation St Don Pedro’. Hoek’s 3 favorite reds:
- Di St Zurigo (deep red color)
- Di St Mandalay (deep pink/red color)
- Di St Mixed Red (to have all the reds together)
This flower naturally blooms during winter, a perfect timing for the Christmas season, while impressive on its own, Amaryllis can also be combined with other flowers and greenery for more textured arrangements. Its height and structure make it a perfect choice for tall or statement centerpieces. In the reels we used ‘Hipp St Ferrari’. Hoek’s 3 favorite reds:
- Hipp St Ambiance (this one is white, but has red stripes)
- Hipp St Night Fever (very dark red color)
- Hipp St Flaming Amadeus (white and red with a special heart)
“Oh deer, Peonies are here!“
